I'm a PhD student in Geography at the University of Maryland, where I use data science methods to study landcover and nutrition in the developing world. I also work for Conservation International, on the Vital Signs
project and on a project building a social media dashboard as an indicator of public engagement with biodiversity for UNEP.
I've lived in Mali, Alaska and the Philippines, and I've worked in French, Spanish, Tagalog and Bambara (learning Swahili at the moment).
I'm a big fan of utilitarian ethics, the open borders movement, and identifying plants.
When I'm not coding or writing, I'm probably running or climbing.
I'm incredibly optimistic about the future, somewhere between Ray Kurzweil and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
