I'm a PhD student in Geography at the University of Maryland, where I use data science methods to study landcover and nutrition in the developing world. I also work for Conservation International, on the Vital Signs project and on a project building a social media dashboard as an indicator of public engagement with biodiversity for UNEP.

More stuff:
  • I've lived in Mali, Alaska and the Philippines, and I've worked in French, Spanish, Tagalog and Bambara (learning Swahili at the moment).

  • I'm a big fan of utilitarian ethics, the open borders movement, and identifying plants.

  • When I'm not coding or writing, I'm probably running or climbing.

  • I'm incredibly optimistic about the future, somewhere between Ray Kurzweil and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
